Toshiba Corp’s Android tablet PC Toshiba Thrive has landed in the U.S. market. Can the Android Honeycomb 3.1-featured Thrive hoist some challenge to Apple iPad 2? As far as the tech specs, features, and above all, the brand name are taken into consideration, the tablet from Toshiba is not sufficient to have any impact on the sales of Apple iPad 2 in the U.S. Like Motorola Xoom and Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, Toshiba Thrive has a display of a 10.1-inch size. The LED display offers a better resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. The tablet runs on an NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual-core processor. USB 2.0, HDMI ports, SD card slot, accelerometer and gyroscope are a few notable features of the device. The device’s 8GB version is priced at $429.99. And the 16GB version has a price tag of $479.99. The top-notch 32GB version will cost $579.99. Only Wi-Fi versions are available. Anyway, considering the fact that Apple iPad has a worldwide market presence of more than 60 percent, no one can predict that Thrive or any other Andorid devices will raise threats to the tablet from the Cupertino technology major. However, Thrive will work as a better choice for customers, who look for alternatives.
